Red Rubber Road is the shared identity of artist duo Nathalie Dreier and AnaHell currently based between Zurich and Berlin. In their work, the artists weave performative narratives between the mundane and the surreal. Faceless and naked bodies are the trademark of their images, in which the role of the individual takes second place to a new and greater common entity. Their work has explored themes of shared identity, intimacy, relationships, sexuality, dissociation, and technology - always from an angle laced with ambiguity and playfulness.
Double Detour is a selection of their self-portraiture spanning across the last eight years. Here, the self becomes fluid and the artists perform as one. It is a glimpse into the shapes and forms that their identity has merged into since they began their unique relationship when they were 12 years old.
